Key Aspects of WRAP Certification

Compliance with Laws and Workplace Regulations: Facilities must comply with laws and regulations in the countries where they operate, including those related to labor, customs, and environmental regulations.

Prohibition of Forced Labor: WRAP certification ensures that there is no use of involuntary or forced labor, including indentured, bonded, or other forms of forced labor.

Prohibition of Child Labor: The certification requires compliance with the minimum age laws and does not allow child labor in the production facilities.

Prohibition of Harassment or Abuse: This standard provides workers with a workplace free from harassment, abuse, or corporal punishment in any form.

Compensation and Benefits: Certified facilities must compensate their employees by providing wages and benefits that comply with the national laws and regulations.

Hours of Work: Hours worked each day, and the number of days worked per week, must not exceed the limitations of the country’s law. Facilities must provide at least one day off in every seven-day period.

Health and Safety: WRAP certification ensures that facilities provide a safe and healthy work environment. This includes protection from fire, accidents, and toxic substances.

Prohibition of Discrimination: Workers must be treated equally and fairly, without discrimination based on personal characteristics or beliefs.

Freedom of Association: Workers must be free to join associations of their own choosing, and they must not face discrimination for the organization of associations.

Environment: Facilities must comply with environmental rules, regulations, and standards applicable to their operations, and observe environmentally conscious practices in all locations where they operate.

Customs Compliance: Facilities must comply with applicable customs laws and, in particular, establish and maintain programs to comply with customs laws regarding illegal transshipment of apparel products.
